Stelo Glucose Biosensor Overview

For patients looking to better understand their health, Dexcom’s Stelo, an over-the-counter biosensor that provides a real-time look at your blood sugar levels. This 24/7 wearable continuous glucose monitor shows how food, exercise and sleep can affect your personal glucose levels—thus allowing you to understand and make better lifestyle choices for a healthier you.

For those with Type 2 diabetes not on insulin, this is a must-have affordable addition to your wellness portfolio. In Type 2 diabetes, the body doesn’t produce enough insulin or becomes insulin resistant over time. Approximately 90-95% of people diagnosed with diabetes have Type 2 diabetes. Those individuals who control their glucose levels via oral medication might not have access to continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) that were only covered through insurance. Stelo is a gamechanger—no insurance needed and no prescription required!

Tracking Made Easy

CGMs are smart sensors that poke through the skin to provide real-time readings on current blood sugar levels. Stelo is worn on the upper arm and lasts for up to 15 days1 before needing to be replaced. Stelo has the highest waterproof rating of any glucose biosensor. Note: There are no alerts or warnings for low sugar levels. Instead, by providing full-time data, the goal is to improve your life through better lifestyle choices.

Proven and Effective Technology

Stelo is built on Dexcom’s industry-leading CGM technology. Users can easily track their current glucose levels and monitor spikes as they happen. Stelo can offer a deeper understanding of what your blood sugar looks like and how it is positively or negatively impacted by food, timing of meals, exercise, or sleep. This data can help guide better daily choices. This can be particularly useful for diabetics who do not regularly check their blood sugar levels with finger pricks.

New! Generative AI Platform

Made for use by any adult who doesn’t take insulin, the Stelo is an ideal companion for tracking glucose levels. It provides real-time results and a target range to which sugar levels should stay within, helping all users feel more educated about their glucose.

Dexcom has been working with Google’s Gemini models and its Vertex AI platform to offer more valuable and customized insights to users. This feature gives users personalized weekly reports of relevant tips and educational information to assist them in enhancing their overall health. Eventually, Dexcom will use this generative AI to deliver real-time feedback rather than weekly reports to its users. Also being explored is how AI can act as a predictive indicator for any potential problems that could arise.

Stelo App

The Stelo Biosensor connects to the Stelo app (available for download in the app store). This app will show a user’s glucose levels and target range that reveals how their body is affected by glucose. These easy-to-understand and quickly accessible insights help users make informed decisions about their bodies and what is best for them.

In-App Features

  • Spike Detection: Stelo will show trends when meaningful spikes happen due to meal, stress, or activity, helping the user know when and how to adjust their habits
  • Powerful Insights: Personalized insights and daily tips reveal the steps a user can take to build momentum and achieve better glucose wellness
